JSerra Vs. Huntington Beach

Thursday, Sep 6, 2012

JSERRA Frosh traveled to Huntington Beach High School to face their second opponent of the season.  Sunny, warm day with slight ocean breeze was not enough to help "Oilers" bring their best game to the surface....their gusher got capped!!!

In the first quarter, JSerra had scored three touchdowns before the offense made their first snap from scrimmage.  First score occurred on an intercepted pass deep in Oilers territory and returned for the first score.  Second score occurred on the next series, again deep in Oiler territory on a fumble recovery and return for a touchdown.  The third defensive/special teams TD occurred on the Oilers first punt, resulting in a return for a third TD.

When the offense finally got on the field midway through the 1st Qtr, Conor led them down field with several hand-offs with good yardage gains into Oiler territory.  Conor completed a nice 20yd "out pattern" pass for  the fourth TD of the quarter...... 28-0, Lions at the quarter.

Second quarter allowed the offense to see a little more action, with running and timely passing.  The backup QB completed a TD pass to the flat in Oiler territory.  A couple more running TD's and a final short TD pass over the middle for Conor's second throwing TD of the half.  Score at the half 42-0, Lions.

Second half saw little action, but provided ALL the Lions a chance to get reps in the game.

Conor made several timely tackles/stops on special team defense during the entire game, helping prevent the Oilers from getting anything going.

MERCY Rule again invoked for the entire 2nd half ....tick, tick, tick, 'till the final whistle.  Final score...49-14 Lions.
