Conor's first High School football game!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Conor O'Brien leads Lions to impressive win over Long Beach Wilson in their season opener
O'Brien, making his season debut as the starting QB for the JSERRA freshman football team, scored the first TD on a 20 yard scamper eluding several tackles to the end zone. On their next possession, O'Brien threw a 20 yard strike to a wide open receiver for the second score.
The Lion defense held on every opportunity, limiting Long Beach to almost 0 yards. O'Brien, playing safety and linebacker for most of the first half, was instrumental on defense also!
The Lions 4th score came on another O'Brien pass, this time another strike from about 20 yards.
The score at halftime.....JSERRA 42, Long Beach 0
And...to keep O'Brien really busy in the first half he also was the long snapper on extra points and punts!!
With the game out of reach...JS rested the starters in the 2nd half and under the mercy rule kept a running clock...so Conor played very little and the final score was 55-0.
O'Brien did have two interceptions in the first half, both tipped, which was the only little blemish in an otherwise outstanding game.
Next up....Huntington Beach...bring em on!!
